Arrived on Thursday to find 4 others had aready set up camp. With the 2 rialtos parked up the unpacking started, out came the new tent, luckily no wind or rain to hinder my erecting it. Ruth came accross with a hot drink for me and Clare and we set up camp. There were already a couple of kids playing so we lost Henry as they played on the slide swings etc. This was our first trip to Ripon so we took a look around the site.
An old quarry filled with water with ducks, geese and swans
A good play area with swings, seesaw, slide and roundabout
A refurbished hall with good all round facilities.
Thursday night had get together in hall caught up on news since Nottingham Rally and had the inevitable pint or two.
Friday, in the morning bought another sleeping bag for £4-00 from a charity shop to try and keep warm at night as tent was covered with ice this morning, popped upto Thirsk to see some friends in the afternoon. The evening was taken up with supper provided by the organisers, quizzes, bingo and booze
Saturday during the day was just lazing about and chatting catching up on sleep etc., the evening was again a supper provided by the organisers, quizzes, bingo, a horse race winding up string on a piece of wood thus pulling a little wooden horse on wheels towards the winning line and of booze.
Sunday started with with an Easter egg hunt for the children Trevor having hidden dozens of small chocolate eggs around the site, then all the reliants were paraded and judged by everyone to find the most liked, cherished or best car (the choice was yours), and we all had a fun time throwing horse shoes, hitting golf balls, trying to win prizes on the tombola. I won a prize for the highest score on the throwing of 6 darts.
Monday morning those still around got together for tea coffee in the hall provided by the organisers. In the afternoon the 3 units staying over until Tuesday went to Newby Hall where the kids went on another Eater egg hunt, then after a quick look round the hall itself we went down to the chidrens play area where everything was free so the kids had a go on the little paddle boats etc., in the evening we went to the hall and watched a film on TV and played a couple of games.
Tues , the day of packing and leaving camp came with rain (the first rain of the weekend) so tents etc. went into the car soaking wet.
Wednesday spent drying tent, groundsheets etc and seeing to business calls, Emails recieved during camp.
